XO Ends Successful Season at USATF Outdoor Nationals (USA Outdoor National Results)

Indianapolis, IND– June 25 2006 - Nine athletes qualified but two (Leonidas Watson – long jump and triple jump, and Adam Kriz – hammer throw) were unable to attend. The seven who did make the trip to Indianapolis, IN were rewarded with mixed results but most came away from extremely positive seasons.

EUGENE - 4/23/06 - Nobody who was at the Oregon Invite this weekend will pretend it was ideal conditions for great performances. Runners were met all day by a fierce wind on the back stretch while jumpers and throwers had to adjust all day to the endless gale. It's a good thing that nothing can hold down the energy at historic Hayward Field, especially with the help of the 6000 fans in attendances. With this energy, many athletes, including numerous XO athletes, came away from the Oregon Invite with PR's and new team records.

EUGENE - 4/22/06 - While picking up their awards at this weekend’s XO Elite Sections held during the Oregon Invite at Hayward Field, one of the girl’s from Sandy High School’s victorious 4x400 m relay team jokingly asked one of the meet workers, “Don’t you know who this is? This is Sheryl Page!” She need not even have jokingly asked, because after Saturday, everyone at Hayward Field knew who Sheryl Page was.

Team USA finishes 12th at World XC Championships

Team USA men finish 12th in Open Men's 12 km

Ethiopia's Kenenisa Bekele, the champion from Saturday's Open Men's 4 km, dominated the second day of competition as he pulled away from teammate Sileshi Sihine, running 35:43 to win his fifth consecutive 12 km title by three seconds. Despite Bekele's dominant performance, Ethiopia was unable to defend the team title, finishing third behind Kenya (24) and Eritrea (28) respectively.

Also running in his second race of the weekend, Ryan Hall (Woodside, Calif.) was the first man on the Team USA squad, finishing 43rd as the team struggled to a 12th - place team finish, scoring 206 points.

EUGENE - March 19 2006 - John Lucas improves on his marathon PR by over 3 minutes in route to qualifying for the 2008 USA Olympic Marathon Trials. Lucas's time of 2:21:53 smashed the old XO record and earned him 17th place in the elite field at the 2006 L.A. Marathon.
