Johnson Goes Big Again in Washington
SEATTLE, Wash.—31
January 2004—Team XO high jumper Kyley Johnson continued
his winning streak on Saturday in Seattle at the University of
Washington Indoor Invite at Dempsey Indoor.
In a meet that saw two world-leading marks
and eight top-10 U.S. marks set, plus seven facility records broken,
Johnson stood out, as this was his second victory at Dempsey in
as many weeks, jumping 7 feet, 1 ½ inches en route to a
first place finish.
Johnson also broke the facility record at
Dempsey previously held by none other than current XO teammate
Jason Boness. Boness set the record during his career at the University
of Oregon in 2002.
Also competing on Saturday for the Team
XO men was thrower Adam Kriz, who came in third in the weight
throw with a toss of 61 feet, 9 ½ inches.
On the Women’s side, Team XO’s Jenny Rodgers placed
16th in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:58.59.
Team XO’s next indoor meet is
scheduled for February 15, when the blue and white head back to
Seattle to compete in the University of Washington Indoor Open.
